Mother’s Day became an official holiday in 1914 thanks to the efforts of Anna Jarvis who conceived the idea to celebrate moms across the nation. The holiday is traditionally marked with flowers, cards, and other gifts bestowed upon moms. We give these gifts to our mothers to show them that we love and appreciate the things she has done and may still do for us. Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May each year.
